Climate Tech Application

GreenGrid - Home energy and sustainability platform is a sustainability and energy application concept focused on solar production, battery state, smart home energy usage, carbon reporting, rebates, and green upgrade marketplace. I created it as a portfolio-ready case study to show how I translate domain knowledge into practical product flows, polished UI states, and responsive interfaces.

Project Purpose and Goal

The goal was to design an end-to-end experience around monitoring energy usage, comparing appliance insights, finding rebates, planning upgrades, and responding to outage or usage alerts. I focused on making the most important decisions visible, reducing friction in critical steps, and keeping the product approachable for both first-time and returning users.

Web Stack and Explanation

The implementation plan centers on modular React components, typed domain models, reusable form patterns, and responsive layouts. The technical focus is time-series energy data, smart-device cards, recommendation flows, geospatial community energy views, and alert preferences.

Problems and Thought Process

The main challenge was balancing domain-specific complexity with a simple interface. I handled it by prioritizing user intent, grouping related actions, and designing empty, loading, error, and success states as part of the core experience.

Lessons Learned

This project reinforced my habit of learning the business model before designing the UI. Strong frontend work is not only about components; it is also about understanding what decisions the product helps users make.
